Hunebelle

sl458t.jpg - 1481 Bytes

Item SL458: Large French art glass perfume counter/display bottle by Andre Hunebelle, Paris, scent unknown. C. late 1920’s. While not signed this has been easily attributed to this contemporary of Rene Lalique because of his unique art deco style of design. The other bottle I have for sale has a very similar style--note the round disc style, with clear glossy glass around the edge. Note, also, the highly stylized dragon with floral design. All original patina in blue which is excellent. Well executed design of a dragon with superb detail and position. Also, highly stylized floral and scroll design. The back of the bottle has a round disc undecorated area with a rim identical to that on the front. The silver metal top is in excellent condition and has the original cork inside the top. It matches the flared base which resembles a display stand. The label on the base is not original to the bottle, but the label itself is so incredibly rare I just could not bring myself to remove it (Le Parfum d’Antan). There is no damage to any portion of the bottle and no restoration. ****please ignore the line which shows above the design in the center of the bottle--it is simply a line in the photo backdrop**** The size: just a shade under 10" high; 7 ¼" wide. A rare opportunity to add a major piece of rare art glass to your collection. Shipping included in the purchase price to USA, Canada and Western Europe.

gd87t.jpg - 1994 Bytes

new1.gif - 1044 Bytes  Item GD87: This bottle is quintessential J. Viard design. Designed by Viard for Harriet Hubbard Ayer's scent Lilas. It is a crystal bottle with panels 2 dark stained floral panels both on front of the bottle and on back. The same floral theme is on the stopper. The label is readible but some of the gilding on the foil has been worn off. The bottle measures 4" tall and is marked with an etched circle saying Made in France. A beautiful early perfume.

gd77t.jpg - 1994 Bytes

new1.gif - 1044 Bytes  Item GD77: This is an exceptional example of the artistry of the early 20th Century. This bottle I think was designed by Julian Viard to hold Forest's scent Grand Chic. The bottle measures 3 3/4", has a good label that has foil missing on one corner. The detail on this bottle is incredible. There are 6 "windows" around the base of the bottle and 5 "windows" on the stopper all outlined in black enamel. The rest of the decoration is done in frosted blue with what appears to be berries and leaves. It is a fabulous bottle. There is a fault, however, in the form of an inside fracture. I have tried to photograph it. It does not deter from the bottles beauty at all, as a matter of fact I never saw it until now and it was bought quite a number of years ago. However, given its rarity and beauty, I think the value of the bottle is apparent.
